UL listings belong to the equipment; we manufacture the permanent identification for the installation.

EV charging installations are governed by multiple standards, including the National Electrical Code Article 625 (Electric Vehicle Power Transfer System), local building codes, and jurisdiction-specific requirements. Disconnect identification requirements vary by:

  • Installation type (residential, commercial, DC fast charging, multi-station)
  • Equipment specifications
  • Code edition adopted by the authority having jurisdiction
  • Local amendments and utility requirements

NEC 2026 Emergency Disconnect Labels

NEC 2026 Section 625.43 expanded emergency disconnect requirements for permanently installed EVSE at commercial and multifamily installations. The required label carries specific two-line wording:

  • Line 1: EVSE EMERGENCY DISCONNECT
  • Line 2: WARNING: ELECTRIC VEHICLE(S) WILL REMAIN ENERGIZED

The disconnect is required to be located 20–100 feet from the EVSE and in sight of the equipment. One- and two-family dwellings are exempt. We manufacture engraved emergency disconnect labels to the NEC 2026 format and wording. Applicability of NEC 2026 versus earlier editions depends on the code edition adopted by your authority having jurisdiction — confirm with your project engineer and AHJ.

What materials are available for outdoor EV charger installations?

Outdoor-rated engraved plastic, DurMark, brass, aluminum, and stainless steel are available for outdoor and weather-exposed installations. Material selection depends on your specific environment, mounting method, and exposure conditions. We can recommend based on your project specifications.

Can you handle multi-station commercial installations?

Yes. We produce identification for multi-station commercial EV installations including source-of-supply labels, disconnect schedules, equipment identification, and individual charger labels. Provide your project specifications and we'll quote accordingly.

What labels does NEC 2026 require for EV charging installations?

NEC 2026 Section 625.43 expanded emergency disconnect requirements for permanently installed EVSE at commercial and multifamily installations, including specific label wording. Other NEC 625 subsections address manufacturer markings (625.15), adjusted rating labels (625.42(B)), ventilation markings (625.52), and enclosure markings (625.54). We manufacture engraved identification to your project specifications and the required format. Final label wording, placement, and applicable code edition should be confirmed with your project engineer and the authority having jurisdiction.

Do you produce identification for bidirectional (V2G/V2H) EVSE installations?

Yes. Bidirectional EV supply equipment with power export capability may require marking per NEC 625.48 and identification at the service panel power source directory per NEC 705.10. We manufacture engraved identification for both applications to your project specifications. Applicability of specific requirements should be confirmed with your project engineer and the authority having jurisdiction.

What's the difference between UL 2594 and UL 2202 listed EVSE?

UL 2594 is the listing standard for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (typical commercial Level 2 chargers). UL 2202 is the listing standard for DC fast charging equipment. Both require permanent equipment identification. We manufacture engraved identification to your project specifications regardless of which type of equipment your installation uses.
